Before your eyes stretches the lush greenery of the town of Kannonji and the 2km-long Ariakehama coastline. On fine days visitors can also see all the way to Ishizuchisan, western Japan’s tallest mountain.
This vast panoramic view can be enjoyed from the upper buildings of Takaya Shrine complex on the summit of Inazumiyama, a 407-meter mountain. The shrine gate in front of the prayer hall is sited in a spot that makes visitors feel like they have the entire sky all to themselves, making it a perfect place to take photos. While still little-known, this spot is growing increasingly popular.
The Takaya Matsuri is held every year in spring at the part of Takaya Shrine located at the foot of the mountain. A spectacular highlight of the festival is when a gorgeously ornamented float with a large drum on it is pulled at great speed up an avenue flanked by cherry trees in full bloom.(This information is as of November 2017)
