Ramen is one of the most popular cheap dishes in Japan loved by young and old alike. It provides a quick and filling meal that allows you to savor broth, noodles, and other ingredients all at the same time. Japan is home to a vast array of different types of ramen. Okayama ramen features a pork bone broth mixed with soy sauce called “tonkotsu shoyu”. The ramen is served in a large bowl full to the brim with broth. Try slurping the soup and noodles into your mouth in as a hearty a fashion as you can. By doing so can savor the delicious flavor as it spreads throughout your mouth and the aroma of the soy sauce passes through your nose. The ramen shop Fuji-ya, which has been popular with locals ever since it opened 67 years ago, is where Okayama ramen first originated. Nowadays the grandson of the shop’s founder continues to serve up ramen with the same original flavors. (This information is as of June 2019)
