Fuchu is an historic city that was once the capital of Bingo Province in western Japan. This is where you will find the beloved Koishiki, a place where love flourishes.
The Machiya ryokan opened for business in 1872 as a combination restaurant and inn. It was a complex business model with a restaurant featuring cafe dining as the main tenant. Over the years, many famous politicians and artists have visited there and a record of these visits remains. The building is a Registered Tangible Cultural Asset and reflects the history of the time in which it was built. A comfortable place to relax and forget the time. Meals are prepared using the freshest seasonal ingredients. A special taste treat is the Fuchu miso unique to the area.
An after-dinner walk through the garden is strongly recommended. The well-maintained garden is constructed around a central pond with connecting bridges. The colorful view changes with each step you take. It complements the four-season cuisine and leaves the visitor with a warm heart. One can enjoy the thought of the many Japanese celebrities who have enjoyed the same meal and the same view.(This information is as of April 2018)
