This old detached Japanese farmhouse stands in a residential district in the heart of Okayama City. Open the sliding door, and you will be welcomed by the fragrant scent of coffee. This store’s home-roasted coffees are produced by the owner, who is an expert coffee-roaster and buyer of green beans. The greatest feature of this shop is being able to order from around 40 different types of green coffee beans in stock from 16 different countries and have them roasted in-store. Customers can choose the finish of their roast from five different stages, and the in-store coffee maker will match the way the beans are ground. The elegant building, constructed around 100 years ago, is also part of this store’s appeal; you can see the excellence of the construction at every turn, including the Japanese-style room made with Yakusugi (Japanese cedars) and the long, deep veranda. There is a café space in one corner of the store, where you can savor the curry and confections made by the owner’s wife. Of course, you can also enjoy a cup of freshly-roasted coffee at your leisure.(This information is as of April 2018)
