The area of Omotecho, close to Okayama Castle and Okayama Korakuen Garden, is a hotly-contested ground for the best Okayama ramen, and this small, quality store located in Omotecho is well-loved by the local ramen connoisseurs.
This store has achieved a superb balance between the soup, made from a torigara (chicken bones) or tonkotsu (pork belly and bones) base with added extra-salty shio-dare (salt-based sauce) and Japanese-style dashi stock, the noodles, made using high-quality wheat, and the other ingredients, created with time and effort. We recommend the Gakucho Ramen, on their signboard, for 850 yen, or their ALL TOP Ramen for 1,518 yen. Their ALL TOP Ramen is a dish full of luxury, served with toppings such as chashu (roasted pork fillet) and soft-boiled eggs piled high. You can choose from four types of soup – dashi tonkotsu (dashi stock and pork belly and bones), shio tonkotsu (salt and pork belly and bones), tori shio (chicken and salt), or torigara shoyu (chicken bone and soy sauce) – and fully enjoy the careful creation of the owner. The inside of this café-like store is comfortable, and fans of both the owner’s smiling face and the service are growing and growing.(This information is as of June 2019)
