With an atmosphere of sweet excitement, even adults go wild with childhood joy.
Japan’s largest dagashi shop is found in Osafune, Setouchi City in Okayama Prefecture. Dagashi is cheap candy and snacks usually for children. Here, in this renovated 2500㎡ warehouse, the shop sells a vast range of around 5000 products. Inside the shop are three special areas. One is the “dagashi corner,” which features a wide variety of cheap treats. Since the products start at 10 yen, it is a perfect recipe for a shopping spree. The “discount snacks corner” is the area for cheap treats getting close to their use-by dates or that are discounted for another reason, while the “retro toys corner” stocks products that might have been offered at a festival day fair. It is also possible to buy toys from the olden days. The extensive line-up at this store will satisfy everyone from children to adults.(This information is as of February 2020)
Classic dagashi snacks like Kabayaki-santaro Jerky and Oyatsu Calpas Salami start at 10 yen.
The world-famous Umaibo is also available in a range of flavors starting at 10 yen.
You can even find candy in the shape of sushi for 60 yen!
This shop lifts the spirits of children and adults alike.
We can also visit the Shikada Dagashi Shop from the cartoon Dagashikashi which is popular the world over. You can take pictures inside. It is the perfect place for a photo op!
There is plenty of room for the children to play.
