Kinojo, a mountain castle shrouded in mystery, is said to be the castle featured in the “Ura legend”, upon which the “Momotaro” fairy tale is based.
When you experience the intensity of this site with the ruins of a 2.8km-long, 6m-high, and 7m-thick defensive wall and the restored west gate, which gives visitors an indication of the original character of the castle, and look down to the town below, you’ll likely feel that you’ve travelled back to ancient times.
The site is located approximately 400 meters (15 minutes on foot) from the Kinojo Visitor Center, which has a dedicated car parking area. Walking around the entire site should take roughly one hour.(This information is as of November 2017)
